SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, March 1

  • 7:30 PM: Dr. Nicole Molumby Recital, Dr. Stephen Thomas, piano; BYU-Idaho Snow Recital Hall

Saturday, March 2

  • 8am-5pm: Flute World instrument trial booth

  • 8-10am: flute competitions for junior high, high school, & college students (see website for information)

  • 10:30am-12:30pm: Dr. Molumby masterclass

  • Lunch Break (on your own)

  • 1:30-2:30pm: Dalcroze class with Dr. Molumby

  • 2:45-3:15pm: Irish Ornamentation with Kristi Ballif

  • 3:30-4:00pm: Flute Choir Readings

  • 4:15-5:00pm: Mini-Recital by competition winners and flute ensembles, presentation of prizes

Guest Artist Dr. Nicole Molumby is Professor at Boise State University, teaching flute and ear training. Internationally, she has performed in Slovenia, Croatia, Norway, Austria, and the UK.  She recently completed a CD project entitled Awakening: 21st Century Slovenian Flute Music with the MSR Classic Records Label that was inspired by the creative and contemporary music of Slovenian composers Blaž Pucihar, Crt Sojar Voglar, and Peter Kopac. In 2012, she received an Idaho Commission on the Arts Fellowship in Performing Arts, as well as a Boise State Arts and Humanities Fellowship for her contributions and performances of newly commissioned flute music by Slovenian Composers Blaž Pucihar and Crt Sojar Voglar.  Performance engagements have included principal flute at the Classical Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria; substitute flute with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra; National Flute Association National Convention; and College Music Society Board Member for Performance.  She is a faculty member at Passion Flute Summer Course since 2010 with flutists Angeleita Floyd, Jill Felber, and Claudia Anderson.

COMPETITIONS & MASTERCLASS PERFORMERS:

To perform in one of the competitions, please register here.  Competition repertoire requirements (applicants must provide pianist if repertoire is accompanied):

  • Junior High (grades 6-8): Play a solo of choice.

  • High School (grades 9-12): Play a solo of choice.

  • College: Perform one movement of any unaccompanied piece written for solo flute.

High school and college students are eligible to perform in the masterclass. Applications will be accepted based on space available. To apply to perform in the masterclass, please register here and list the repertoire you would like to perform. You will be notified if you are accepted as a performer. Please provide your own pianist if needed.
